Morning Room Debaters! Friday has come around scarily quickly this week – usually a good thing but I have been rushed off my feet! Anyway, now’s the time for a little critical indulgence in today’s Room Debate. I’ve picked quite an unusual room – a guest bedroom with a hint of an en-suite. To me, the day I own a home with a dedicated spare room will be the day I feel like a proper grown-up. Would your dream guest bedroom have features in common with this one?
As always, it’s easy to take part. Just have a good look at the photo below and leave a comment with your answers to these two questions:

Spotted something you love and something you… well… don’t?
I’ll start things off in the comments below – have fun and thanks for joining in!

I’m kinda going over what others have said really…..
I like the colour combo – bone, green, black and splashes of turquoise (v brave). Rug is lovely.
As a guest room what I don’t like is the single bed! Too stingy! There is enough room for a lovely squidgy double bed in there.
I’m not a huge fan of all the panelling, but could live with it. But I definitely would get rid of that shelf above one’s sleeping head. The reasoning is a combination of too much ‘meaningless yet matchy stuff and things’ on the wall with a real worry I’d get donked on the head in the middle of the night :-D
I love the combination of the green florals, with the clean white wood and bedlinen, together with b&w striped accessories. Clean and restful looking; a country escape.
Can’t think what I don’t like about this room.
I love this room! Forget GUEST room. I will take it for MY room! The only thing that i was not quite understanding is that bag underneath the sink. I do like the exposed piping of the sink but maybe some sort of foot stool underneath would do better than a bag of dirty clothes. Otherwise, i wouldnt change a thing.
I love – it all!
I hate – nothing (can I just love this room instead please????)
Of course you can!
I like the calming creamy-white colour & the sloping roof which just seems to suggest a break from normal life … but for it to be totally relaxing it needs a comfy chair instead of the bedside cabinet.
I am not a fan of the patterned carpet or the striped sheet – softer patterns would have been cosier.
Oh, I just put my finger on it. I don’t like that the cladding is going in two different directions…
Ah ha!
I like the tug and the little sink in a cupboard; reminds me of my university room. I don’t like the wood cladding, there’s a little too much for me!
Rug..
I like the room but it looks more beach home guest room than London apartment to me. I love the rug, don’t particularly hate anything.
Absolutely lovely room. I love the colour combinations and how cosy it is. However, there is, as others have said, a little too much going on. It’s not a practical to use room as all the space has stylistic things going on.
Yes, I agree Lizzy. I think it’s definitely a styled shot rather than a real home… Always a temptation for the stylist to fill up her product captions!
I really love the rug! And I too love the cosy vibe- it seems perfect for hiding away on a rainy day like this!
But what I don’t like is the whole…feeling? It is maybe too cluttered for me. I think there’s too much going on with the shelf and hook and stuff on the wall and the vase on the bedside table!
Hmm. Initially I thought I love this, but then I looked closer..
I really like the color combo, although I could have done without the turquoise.
I dislike that the room feels overstyled. Really I think there´s too much going on here, especially on that shelve above the bed. Less would have been more here in my opinion.
It’s funny, when I think about it, I look for very different qualities in a guest bedroom than I would in a main bedroom. It’s one of those indulgent rooms that – if you’re lucky enough to have one – you can experiment and do something you might not try in a space you had to use everyday.
ANYWAY…
The thing I LIKE MOST is the dinky, cosy feel of the room. I kind of like the idea of escaping up to the attic to stay – even the fact it’s probably quite dark doesn’t bother me somehow. I even like the idea it’s a cute little single bed to sleep in! Weird – I would hate a lot of this if it was a main bedroom but for an occasional room I love it!
The thing I LIKE LEAST is the bedside cabinet. It’s a perfectly pleasant piece of furniture in itself but in this room I find my eye drawn to it in a bad way. It’s too big and heavy. In its place, I’d probably opt for a painted vintage chair or stool. Not so practical storage-wise, but maybe you could get a bed with drawers under so visitors would have somewhere for their clothes?
OVER TO YOU…!
