Wild food in Wimbledon (failed)

10 Oct

There was something a little different on the agenda for this weekend… a fungi foray on Wimbledon Common!

To sum up:

Hours spent looking for mushrooms: 4

Blisters suffered: 2

Edible mushrooms collected: 0

Oh well, at least we had a lovely walk in the autumn sunshine!

My friend found these little yellow mushroom and our guide said they are edible… the question is, would you really want to?!

On the upside, my kitchen cupboards are well-stocked with cheap gin in preparation for sloe season. Let’s hope that hunter-gatherer session is a bit more successful!
