Join The Room Debate!

10 Aug

Happy Friday everyone – welcome to the Decorator’s Notebook Room Debate once again! I’ve picked a summery country dining room for us to consider today. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

As always, it’s easy to take part. Just have a good look at the room photo below and leave a comment with your answers to these two questions:

One thing I like most about this room is…

One thing I like least about this room is…

{via House to Home}

So, what do you make of this one? Do you like the idea of a stencilled floor? What about those chairs and pendant lights?

I’ll kick things off in the comments section below – it would be lovely to see you there!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I love everything about this room – the fabric and furniture particularly stand out (although I agree that the chair pads look a bit loose).

Like others, I’m not sure about the stencilled flooring – a little busy for my tastes.

It’s hard to find something I don’t like about this room. If I have to choose I’d say the matching fabric on the chairs and table. I love the furniture and lighting. The light fixtures, the side table and the floor pattern are my favorite. Thank you for sharing.

I like the display cabinet the best along with the curtains. Another really cool thing with this room is the white painted ceiling beams, many don’t like them being painted because exposed ones usually are pretty old, however a good layer of white paint never hurt anybody. The carafes and the teapot in the cabinet is lovely too.

I am not too fond of the stencilled floor as it is too popping in the room, I think.

I agree about the white beams – natural wood is ok but I find dark stained beams so oppressive.

I pretty much like everything here – it is nice and light, love the stencilled floor. Agree with the chair covers.

Love everything – the lights and the light!! The blinds, the linen fabric everywhere…the furniture…what’s not to like??
I suppose I like least the stencilled floor – what an effort – it would have been fine painted plain white or cream….sorry!! x

Yes, I am undecided about the stencilled floor too. I think it would be a huge effort to do and also to keep looking nice. At least if you have white floorboards you can just give them another coat when they look tired. With this stencil you’d have to paint over the whole thing and start again. I know I’d never have the energy!

    Morning all!

The thing I like MOST about this room are the pendant lights. I am a huge fan of industrial lighting, especially when it’s battered and chipped like this. It’s the perfect style of light to hang over a dining table in my opinion.

The thing I like LEAST are those shapeless chair pads. They look really badly made – not casually crumpled (like the table runner, which works) and not tightly tailored either. They just look weird and wrong.

What do you love / loathe about this room?
